EU-UNDP project announced a new contest of local initiatives in 30 districts of Belarus

EU-UNDP project announced a new contest of local initiatives in 30 districts of Belarus
The Main Contest of Local Initiatives of the EU-UNDP project “Support to Local Development in the Republic of Belarus” will be conducted from October 10 until November 30, 2016. District executive committees and district councils of deputies hold the organisation of the Contest.
 
The Contest aims at supporting local initiatives and capacity building of local authorities in the field of area-based development in the 30 pilot districts of the Republic of Belarus, selected on the basis of participation in the 1st Contest of Local Initiatives:
 
• Brest region - Bereza, Brest, Kamenets, Lyakhovichi, Pruzhany districts;
• Vitebsk region - Braslav, Glubokoye, Dokšycy, Polotsk, Tolochin districts;
• Gomel region - Bragin, Buda-Koshelevo, Vetka, Korma, Chechersk districts;
• Grodno region - Zelva, Novogrudok, Svisloch, Slonim, Smorgon districts;
• Minsk region - Vileyka, Volozhin, Kletsk, Kopyl, Cherven districts;
• Mogilev region - Drybin, Klichev, Krasnopolye, Slavgorod, Chausy districts.
 
The following legal entities may apply:
 
• non-profit organizations;
• rural executive committees of the pilot districts;
• community and rural councils of deputies of the pilot districts;
• bodies of territorial and public self-government.
 
Each pilot district developed its own Contest regulations, as well as the declared priority topics of the Contest.
 
The call for applications and Contest regulations will be announced on the websites of respective district executive committees on October 10-14.

Funded by the European Union, the Project "Support to Local Development in the Republic of Belarus" is being implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Economy and Scientific Research Economic Institute of the Republic of Belarus and regional executive committees. The project was approved by the Decree of the Council of Ministers for the number 1167 from December 30, 2013 and registered in the database of international projects and technical assistance programs of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Belarus for № 2/14/000688 as of February 15, 2014.
